I created this poster to promote the short film The Alley directed by Liza Popert.
The film is moody and dark with very little dialogue. I wanted the poster to reflect this.
The client wrote the tag line and provided the photo.
I enhanced the colour and sharpness of the photo to surreal levels and added the grainy, shadowy border to give it a preceeding, floaty effect.
I used a heavy four colour rich black for the background. Pushing the total ink density specification to give a striking, inky blacker-than-black look.
The type is simple and stark against the background. I was pushing for the less is more approach on this one.
