Nic Godoy is a Sydney based club DJ.
I wanted these cards to capture the colour and movement associated with a night club.
I took the photo used for the background live at a club during one of Nic's DJ sets.
I used a long exposure and then manually fired a hand held flash unit several times from different angles whilst the shutter was still open. Some people call this technique "Dragging the shutter."
It's often a challenge to get overlayed type to read well against a busy photographic background. The super saturated colour and the contrasting stroke allows the type to be easily readable, even in the low light situation of a night club.
The back of the card is an abstract image supplied by the client. I applied the blue and red duotone effect to tie it to the imagery used on the front of the card.
A matt Celloglaze on both sides gives a nice feel in the hand, and makes sure that the card will be durable enough to still look good after a night out in a clubber's pocket.
