Panavision is the biggest motion picture camera rental company in the world.
One of the principals from Salon Films, the Panavision agent in Hong Kong, was given a Professional Achievement Award by the Hong Kong Film Awards Association. It is Hong Kong's version of an Oscar.
Panavision wanted to honour Charles Wang on receiving the prestigious award by taking a full page ad in Hong Kong's premier film industry magazine, City Entertainment with prime placement.
The images from the awards night were video frame-grabs. They needed extensive retouching to prepare them for offset printing. I cleaned them up considerably and applied strong tonal adjustments. In addition there were some superimposed station ID graphics which I painted out to avoid legal hassles.
The filmstrip like images on the left tell a chronological story from the awards night of Mr Wang being honoured and then being welcomed on stage to receive his statue and give a speech. The main image in the center is Mr Wang in the press room posing for the cameras after giving his speech.
The image of the Panavision Genesis camera in the lower right is a stock image provided by the client. I removed the background and composited it on a Photoshop rendered background with a subtle lighting effect and then added the type and logo.
